I’m apparently emotionally touchy today. On my drive home from work, I was listening to the soundtrack to Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country when… Okay, yes, I was listening to a Star Trek soundtrack on my drive home. I’ll wait until you stop chortling…
Now, I got to the end of the movie, just before the credits when they show the signatures of all the main cast members on the screen… Oh, you haven’t seen it? Yeah, they go through the main cast of Star Trek and show their signatures on the screen, one by one… I’ll wait again.
Anyway, they play the “upbeat” theme music from the movie during this portion, and end with a massive flourish with the original series’ fanfare, and I started to get kinda misty-eyed just thinking…
Oh, nevermind. I shall now commence my nerd walk-of-shame away from you. Think Charlie Brown, after missing yet another kick, but while wearing glasses. Yeah, don’t you feel bad now?!

What’s worse is that I know exactly what you’re talking about and pictured it in my mind as I was reading this – and hearing the music – and…. sigh. You get it honestly.
