- In somewhat baffling news, former President Donald Trump posted a series of seemingly AI-generated images implying that music superstar Taylor Swift was endorsing him. Swift hasn’t officially endorsed either candidate yet, but supported the Biden ticket in 2020. And given Swift’s penchant for attacking powerful men who have wronged her in the past, I would expect the blowback to be, well, “swift”. LINK
- It’s taken about two years and countless hearings, but House Republicans have finally produced a report accusing President Joe Biden of impeachable conduct. Unfortunately for them, chances are extremely slim that the House will actually take up the call for impeachment. Reasons for this are many, but come down primarily to two big ones: There is no smoking gun or solid proof in the report that Biden actually did anything wrong; and more importantly, with Biden no longer running for reelection, this feels even more like Republicans are tilting at windmills. Expect this “report” to go pretty much nowhere. LINK
- In my write-up about the Democratic National Convention yesterday, I mentioned a lot of Democratic dignitaries that will be speaking throughout the week, in preparation and celebration of Vice President Kamala Harris’ official nomination for President. What I didn’t mention, though, were some of the Republican voices that will be heard at the convention this week, including former Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), and Rich Logis, a conservative commentator from Florida who describes himself as an “ex-MAGA activist”. (LINK) Also offering his endorsement over the weekend was retired Judge J. Michael Luttig, a prominent conservative legal scholar put on the bench by President George H.W. Bush. LINK
