- The biggest news of the past 24 hours was the first day of the Democratic National Convention. Highlights included strongly-delivered — and well-received — speeches from folks like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and President Joe Biden; not to mention a short, surprise appearance by the main focus, Vice President Kamala Harris, herself. The whole program ran exceptionally long, resulting in Biden’s 50-minute speech to not even start until after 11 PM, Eastern. While it was long, the sense of enthusiasm from the attendees was intense. Expect more of that tonight, with expected appearances by both former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. LINK
- Outside of that, there was a little news here and there. Since Harris’ entry into the race, independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., appears to have been suffering a severe cashflow issue. Reportedly in the past few weeks, he has reached out to both the Harris and former President Donald Trump’s campaigns to discuss hitching his wagon to their respective stars in exchange for a cabinet position, but he’s been rebuffed by both. And Kennedy’s lack of public campaign events in over a month seems to indicate that he’s aware the writing is on the wall. LINK
- As for the Trump campaign, since Harris has refused his attempts at getting a debate to air on Fox News, Trump has announced that he will participate in a “Tele-Town Hall” on September 4, hosted on the conservative network, moderated by Sean Hannity, and broadcasting from somewhere in Pennsylvania. (Further details are yet to be announced.) LINK
